KUPENDRA REDDY AS A CITIZEN

As a citizen of Bengaluru, Kupendra Reddy has contributed extensively in his personal capacity to several areas including education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

He has already lent his voice and taken active steps to address issues such as Bengaluru’s polluted lakes, water scarcity, garbage mismanagement, and infrastructure limitations.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Kupendra Reddy supports several schools and has enabled students to pursue higher studies. He has contributed to the construction of quality school buildings at Agara, Bommanahalli, Bylakuppe, and Parangipalya.

Kupendra Reddy has donated land to the State Government for public purposes like road development and housing for the poor. He has built and renovated several religious institutions. He has also built marriage halls to help the public.

In addition, he has adopted the village of Bidaraguppe and developed facilities such as education, electricity, and roads there. He is an active part of the afforestation drive in Bylakuppe.

He is also the founder of the HSR Club and was a part of the HSR Layout No Plastic movement.

SAVING LAKES

As someone who grew up in a Bengaluru with several large and small lakes, Kupendra Reddy was concerned about the increasing pollution, loss of ecosystem, and decreasing number of lakes.

He has been working closely with the state and central government as well as the National Green Tribunal to break the deadlock around Bengaluru’s now-infamous Bellandur Lake. He also wrote to the NGT to expand the scope of lake restoration to Agara and Varthur Lakes. As a result, Agara Lake was completely de-watered, all the waste in the lake removed and complete stoppage of the flow of sewerage water into the lake was brought into effect.

Kupendra Reddy is a well-respected figure in the lake conservation movement in Bengaluru.
